It was so fun to work on something a little different and it had been a long time since I used an image in a wedding invitation. I love the fresh feel the picture gives to the inside of the invitation. The map is another item that can be made to suit the look of your wedding stationery. It keeps everything neat and uniform. Here is an invitation I worked on last year for a winter wedding. It was such a fun wedding to work on! I added some sparkle with the two crystals added on the front of the invitation. You open the flap and are presented with three cards, in this case: ceremony, reception and a reply card. The directions were printed on the back of the reception card. In the last few years, I have worked on a monogram design that fits with the invitation. This monogram can be sent to the couple for use on other wedding items if needed. Enjoy :) If you have any questions about pricing please e-mail me at inmyatticstudio@gmail.com
Alisha Bos
In My Attic Studio

2011 Christmas Card!

A Glance Back

There are numerous pieces I have been failing to post recently, but I am hoping that over the next little while I can catch up. I am going back in time a little bit here and posting a few dinner reception programs I have done in the recent past. Designing these programs is so special and fun as they are filled with so many different pieces. Some are for introducing family and bridal parties, while others are filled with games and fun facts about the bride and groom. It gives your guests that special something to take home and remember the wonderful time they had. Each one is so unique and so interesting! I have had the pleasure to work with bridal parties and families to put these booklets together either as a surprise to the couple or just for fun. The bride and groom were hoping for a simple yet whimsical invitation to set the tone of their wedding day. The colours setting the tone were charcoal and periwinkle blue and they worked beautifully together. The invitation was assembled as one card with an angle pocket on the back and all information inserted into it. It turned out just as the bride and groom hoped...thank you for letting In My Attic Studio be a special part of your wedding day.

Fresh Pocket of Sage

This invitation was a joint effort between In My Attic Studio and the bride to be. The bride really wanted to play a part in the thought process and to take care of the hands on aspects of the invitations. In My Attic Studio put together the design and took care of making sure the pieces came together and the bride took care of all the assembly. This saved some money for the couple and gave them a chance to be involved in a very important part of the wedding plans. It is such a fresh and lovely piece and Rachel did an amazing job with the assembly. They were the ultimate in custom design with the "V" on the front cut out to showcase the cards inside. If you wonder, why a "v"? That would be for both the bride and groom since they had a last name that started with the letter. A white ribbon was attached to each card so you could easily pull them out of the pocket. Colours of choice were a light sea blue-green and chocolate brown printed on a bright white stock. They took a long time to assemble and the end result was worth all the effort. This invitation has a wrap and the cards inside are pulled out by the ribbon on the right side. Another nice feature is the stand on the back. Invited guests can stand the invitation up on a mantle or shelf to remind them of the upcoming marriage! As for the details, the paper was a metallic card stock in an ivory with black type and a hint of apple green. It was sent out to the guests in style with black envelopes. These are definitely eye catching invitations! If you would like to see the images that are posted, please click on the image and you will be able to see the invitations in more detail. Thanks. Since I have a couple spare moments, I would like to share them with you. This invitation design is similar to a soft pink and bronze one that was done last year. This time the stock selected is more mocha in colour and the ribbon and inserted pieces are ivory. The couple requested three cards to insert into the pocket, and you can see that the feathered image in the background continues on the inserted cards. The overall effect was lovely!! The size was 5"x5" and came with ivory envelopes. Once again, it was a pleasure to customize the product to meet the bride and grooms hopes and wishes.

'Till next time, Alisha

The Elegance of Black

These elegant yet simple invitations were printed on a metallic stock to give a little bit of punch. The overall effect was quite beautiful. Even if you are on a low budget and are looking to print a black only invitation, metallic or pearlescent stocks are a great way to glamorize. In this case, I had wrapped a thin black ribbon around the invitation card to hold the reception and reply cards in place. A finishing touch was printing identical calla lilies on the envelopes with the brides return address. I packaged everything up in a translucent paper and labeled...a beautiful bundle! If you want to see physical samples of the invitations or know more about the ideas, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Once again from you local wedding stationary artist,
Alisha

Florals and Filigrees

Hello everyone,
Who knew that the winter months would keep me as busy as ever!! I don't even remember what it was that kept me so busy...
Well whatever it was, now I have a moment to reveal the results of a wedding package that I put together in October. The bride and groom had chosen a dark chocolate brown/coppery colour to accent the highlight which was a lovely turquoise colour. The mix was beautiful! The idea turned out very whimsical and flowing, which is exactly what the bride was hoping for. The stationary included the invitations, programs, and menu cards. The round menu fit perfectly in the white dinnerware and looked stunning! I hope you enjoy this latest edition! Hope to hear all your feedback...

Alisha Bos
In My Attic Studio

A Romance of Soft Pink and Bronze

It really has been far too long since I've sat down and updated the business end of my life. It is kind of sad for people to be directed to this site, only to see no change by the operator after half a year!! Well here is the first of a few new entries to come. This wedding invitation was a September wedding. The colour chosen has a hint of summers end in a soft pink and autumns beginning in the shimmering bronze. What a stunning combination they made and the final work left me feeling pretty pleased! It came with an inner pocket for the Reception, Map and RSVP information. These can be changed as a couple would like them to be. I hope you enjoy this edition to In My Attic Studio. If you have any comments, or questions, please write me via the comments section in the blog.

Now that winter is slowly arriving and I have more time on my hands, hopefully updates will be finished. I have a number programs and other accessories that compliment the wedding invitations shown here. I try as much as possible to follow a colour and theme for each couple. Sometimes one is so completely different than the next and it always amazes me what comes out of my head and how well it suits the couple I have talked to. Until next time!!! Who am I kidding!! A night that I decided to put my captivating novel down and do something on the blog instead is closer to the truth.
Here you are though folks. A new client and an addition to the growing portfolio. I really do love this one. The colours capture the idea of victorian beauty. Sage and gold with a curling script to capture the names of the two to be wed. I wrapped all the pieces in raffie (dried corn husk) to give it an additional feeling of romance. I love packaging the pieces just as much as I love creating the stationary in itself. The envelopes were wrapped in brown paper with small labels denoting what was in the package, almost as though they were straight from the victorian era. What times those were! I could lose myself in book after book based on the days of petticoats and parasols, chivalry and courage! I probably dream a great deal more exaggerated than those days really were, but that is fine by me. I hope you enjoy the latest edition to In My Attic Studio.

Alisha

A Creamy Blend

Recently my husband and I purchased a new HP colour laser printer. How exciting! I can finally print some quality work at home! The first set of stationary I printed off this printer was for Mary-Jane and Jason. I was pleasantly surprized by the quality of the print job. The blend of pictures attached show the inside and outside of these invitations. They are printed on linen cardstock with a small piece of glama (vellum) on the front. This gives a little more punch to the verse written compliments of moi! A colour balance of a light sage and dusty rose with cream background. The title of this blog suites the card look, a creamy blend. I am definitely looking forward to the next project!
Thank you for the opportunity Mary-Jane and Jason, I really had fun working with you!
Alisha
In My Attic Studio

The Family!

This weekend was a bit of a family weekend. Friday night my brother-in-law hosted a party at his place with the Bos side, in celebration of his birthday and mine, since they are only 2 days apart. It was a really enjoyable evening and I appreciated how relaxing it was too. Since we moved out of the Smithville area, and into Grassie, we don't see as much of the family as we used to.

Saturday was a work on the house day. We are attempting to fix what we destroyed when we moved in. I guess it was a family day too since I spent the day working with my husband . . . and no fights! I don't know what people are talking about when they say "never do house repairs with your spouse, it leads to stress in the marriage!" We have fun hammering away, painting and fixing the house together. Maybe thats because Darryl is an easy-going patient kind of guy!

On Sunday I invited my side of the family over after our second church service. There was a serving up of coffee and cake (of course) and then everyone stayed for supper. We went through a huge pan of soup and a couple loaves of bread! Good thing Darryl and I were prepared! God has definitely blessed with an abundance of food! When everyone left, we could reflect on how thankful we could be for the wonderful family relationships we have, whether it be with a niece/nephew, aunt/uncle, sibling, parent or grandparent.

All in all I have concluded that it was a very nice weekend. Hope yours was too!
TATA FOLKS

The New Logo!

I thought I would post the new logo
New business name: In My Attic Studio

Invitations at a Glance!

A look at some custom work that I am doing right now. These invitations are almost finished! They have a nice elegant touch with the black cardstock. I tried my hand at photography too. I love taking pictures but it takes a bit to get it the way I want and how I had envisioned. This is the first time I decided to take a few shots of my work at I am in the progress. Usually I stick to making a page in my portfolio (ok its a scrapbook!) with the few extra cards I have leftover.

I think I'll sign off here, since I need to go to bed. I need a good sleep since I turn 25 tomorrow. I think I'll need lots of strength for that blow . . . whew, I am feeling feeble in my old age!

Business OR Busyness?

Well I decided it was high time I wrote another blurb that no one will read! My home business finally has a new and improved name . . . In My Attic Studio. I have given in and printed business cards too. Its pretty exciting, taking this next step.
This time of year definitely brings in numerous clientelle, due to the amount of summer weddings. There I sit night after night, bent over a table, folding, printing, glueing, cutting etc. all for the image that I have in my mind. And I love every minute of it, that is such a blessing. I hope all these late nights won't bite me in the butt one of these days, though!
The first wedding I was working on is already done, and now I am starting on the second. There is a little more handwork involved with this one, as opposed to printing only, but that is the joy of creating a custom invitation. Each one is unique . . .
However I must sign off here and return the joys of docket invoicing and checking at my day job! (No one ever told me to quit my day-job so here I am still! I am waiting . . .)

Au revoir mes amies

Time Goes On. . .

I am sitting here at my desk, trying to concentrate on the tasks before me. I find it hard to do on a Thursday morning, when I know there is a busy weekend ahead of me. My husband is turning 30 on Saturday and I wanted to celebrate it. The family is coming down for coffee and of course a nice chunk of cake!! As a side note . . . Devon you had better show up or I will be mad at you :)
Anyway, work is beckoning rudely to me . . .
'Till next time.
